Comms styles
A comms style is a reusable template for an email’s tone, signature, and footer. Every campaign picks one. Defining a few once means every send has consistent branding without re-typing the signoff.
Who this is for: anyone composing email campaigns.
What’s in a comms style
- Name — internal identifier, e.g. “Newsletter (Marketing)”, “Volunteer ops (Campaign)”.
- Consent gate — the lowest consent tier a recipient must have for this style. See consent tiers.
- From name + reply-to — overrides the org default if set.
- Signature block — appended to every email of this style.
- Footer block — the legal / unsubscribe section. CartonCrew adds the
List-Unsubscribeheader automatically; this controls the human-readable footer text.
Steps
- Open Email Campaigns → Comms styles.
- Click New (or open an existing one to edit).
- Fill the fields above.
- Save.

Common issues
- Footer keeps duplicating the address — your signature already includes the address; remove it from one or the other.
- Recipients getting two unsubscribe links — the footer block should NOT include a manual unsubscribe link; CartonCrew adds one to the
List-Unsubscribeheader + a one-click link automatically.
