AI Usage & Spend
What your organization has actually spent on AI, taken from Anthropic and shown with no markup added.
Who this is for: an Admin or the Owner. The card sits on the AI page, and that whole page is for an Admin or the Owner. Anyone else who opens it sees only “Only an Admin or the Owner can manage the AI provider settings. Ask one of them to set this up.” and no figures.
Switching it on
AI Usage & Spend is an extension, and it starts off for every organization, even on a plan that includes it. The Owner switches it on:
- Choose Settings in the sidebar.
- Choose the Extensions tab.
- Find AI Usage & Spend and choose Enable.
Only the Owner can enable an extension. An Admin sees the card but cannot turn it on; ask the Owner.
Where to find it
Settings → Organization → AI. It is the card at the top of that panel, headed AI usage & spend.
It does not have a Settings tab of its own, so do not go looking for one. Note that opening Settings → Organization lands you on Branding — choose AI from the sub-navigation.
What it shows
Four figures:
- Yesterday (UTC) — spend for the previous full UTC day. It is UTC rather than your local day, which is why a late-evening session can appear under the next day’s figure.
- Month to date
- Included allowance — what your plan covers. It reads No cap when your allowance is uncapped.
- Remaining — what is left of that allowance, or No cap.
Below them, a bar shows how much of this month’s included allowance has been used. With an uncapped allowance there is no bar; the card says “Your plan does not cap AI spend, so there is no allowance to count down.”
The card is display-only. There is nothing to press: no refresh, no export, no drill-down.
The figures are not live. They come from Anthropic’s cost report and are then held for up to 45 minutes before they are fetched again, so something done a few minutes ago may not be on the card yet. Reloading the page does not force a fresh figure.
If you use your own API key
The card shows something different, and deliberately shows no figures at all.
AI calls then run on your key with your own provider and are billed to that provider’s account. ChAImp’s included allowance does not apply to them, and ChAImp does not record what you spend — so there is no month-to-date figure to show and no allowance to count down. Your provider’s own dashboard is where that usage lives.
Before this was fixed the card showed the plan allowance with the full amount “remaining”, every month, forever. It was not a figure that was slightly wrong; it was a figure that could never move. Remove your key in Settings → Organization → AI to go back to the allowance included with your plan.
What you might see instead
- “AI usage & spend is included in your plan, but it is switched off.” Your plan includes the extension and nobody has turned it on yet. Ask the Owner to enable it in Settings → Extensions.
- An upgrade message instead of any figures. Your plan does not include the extension. AI features and this tracking are included on the Pro and Complete plans.
- “AI usage & spend is not switched on for this organization.” The card could not check your plan this time. If your plan includes it, the Owner can enable it in Settings → Extensions.
- “Usage tracking will appear here once your AI workspace is set up.” Your organization does not have an Anthropic workspace provisioned yet. It is not something you can do from here — it is set up for you.
- “AI cost reporting unavailable.” The figures could not be fetched this time. It is a reporting problem, not a billing one, and does not affect AI working.
A note on keys
You never enter an API key for this. The Anthropic admin credential stays on the server and is never exposed to the browser. If your organization brings its own AI key, that is set elsewhere in the AI panel — this card reports usage, it does not configure access.
