Creating an engagement

End-to-end: client record → engagement → first deliverable.

Who this is for: Editor / Admin / Owner with client_manager.manage.

Steps

  1. Open Clients.
  2. + New client (or pick an existing one).
  3. Fill the client record:
    • Name
    • Industry / sector (optional)
    • Tags — your own taxonomy
    • Primary contact name + email + phone
  4. Save.
  5. On the client detail page, click + New engagement.
  6. Fill the engagement:
    • Title — e.g. “Fall fundraiser strategy”
    • Starting stage — Discovery (default), Proof of Concept, Active, or Complete. You move between stages later with Advance stage — see Stage progression.
    • Objective — what this first stage is aiming to achieve (this is captured per-stage, so it can change as the work evolves).
    • Scope of work — what’s in scope right now.
  7. Save. The engagement opens in its starting stage.

Common issues

  • Client doesn’t appear in the typeahead — search uses first-letter prefix; type the start of the name, not a middle substring.
  • Engagement stuck in Discovery — use Advance stage to move it on when you’ve kicked off; CartonCrew doesn’t auto-progress.
