Family groupings
Group volunteers into families so signups, communications, and hours-tracking flow together.
Who this is for: anyone with volunteers.manage.
Steps
- Open Volunteers → Families tab.
- + New family.
- Add members by searching existing volunteers (or + Create new).
- Pick the household head (the contact who’ll receive consolidated emails).
- Save.
How it changes things
- Event signup — if the household head signs up, the public form prompts to include family members on the same shift (capacity allowing).
- Comms — campaigns to the family target the household head + audit-log each delivery against the whole family.
- Hours — kids’ volunteer hours roll up to the family for reporting; their individual hours still log separately.

Common issues
- Person should be in a family but isn’t on the list — they’re already in another family; CartonCrew enforces one-family-per-volunteer. Remove them from the other family first.
- Household head left the org — change the head to another member before deactivating the leaving volunteer’s record.
