Schedule wizard
Generates a run of shifts across a date range.
To open it: open the calendar entry itself, and click Schedule wizard in the button row on its Schedule card — next to ↻ Refresh, Bulk import and + Add shift.
There is no Shifts menu and no Wizard button. The button row sits on the entry’s own page and the button is labelled Schedule wizard in full. You will not find it from the Schedule list — open the entry first.
It is seven steps, navigated with Next → and Back, and it commits with Create shifts. There is no Preview button and no Generate button.
The seven steps

| First date | The earliest date on which volunteers will work. |
| Last date | The latest. Single-day events: pick the same date again. |
| Pick dates | Every date in the range, each with a checkbox. Untick the ones you want to skip — weekends, holidays. |
| Times | A start and an end time per date. Each day can differ. |
| Splits | Optionally cut each day into smaller blocks. |
| Slots | How many places each block needs. |
| Review | A table of what will be created. Create shifts commits it. |
The Review table columns are Date, Time, Split, Slots/shift and Total slots.
What Splits can and cannot do
Splits are equal only. The wizard offers the ways a day divides into blocks of equal length, with a minimum of two hours per block, and nothing else.
So a nine-hour day can become three three-hour blocks, but 9–12, 12–3, 3–6 with different lengths cannot be entered here. Build uneven blocks with + Add shift one at a time, or import them from a CSV.
The default is one block covering the whole day.
Naming
Capacity has four different names across this wizard and the shift form, all meaning the same column:
- Capacity on the shift form
- Slots in the step indicator
- Slots/shift and Total slots in the review table
- Volunteers per shift (galleries: Members per shift) as the step heading
What the wizard does not set
- No labels. Every shift it creates has an empty Label. Add them afterwards if you need them.
- No roles. There is no role concept in Events, so nothing multiplies the shift count by a number of roles.
Removing shifts you did not want
Go back to the entry’s page, tick the rows and use Delete selected — but read Bulk-managing shifts first, because that action emails everyone already signed up. Immediately after a wizard run nobody is signed up yet, so it is safe then.
