Templates
Templates are blueprints for the documents you prepare for a customer — proposals, scopes of work, agreements — and for documents that get signed. Claude drafts a document from a template and the customer’s engagement; you review it, then attach it to the engagement.
Who this is for: people who use the Client Manager. Templates appears in the sidebar when the Client Manager extension is on and you hold the Client Manager capability (Owners and Admins always do). Creating, editing and running templates needs Editor or above. The same two conditions apply to every way of reaching templates, not only the sidebar: with the extension off, or without the capability, templates cannot be read or changed at all.
What Templates covers
The page (titled Document templates) has three sections:
| Section | What it holds |
|---|---|
| System templates | The six templates CartonCrew seeds when your organization is provisioned. Read-only: open one and click Save as custom to make your own editable copy (or Save as eSignature when the eSignature extension is on), or Use this template to draft from it as it is. |
| ✍ eSignature templates | Your templates for documents that get signed (custom templates with ✍ eSignature template ticked). With the eSignature extension on, opening one offers ✍ Send for signature in place of Use this template: the Company signs first, then the Client. |
| Custom templates | Your own templates. Open one for Duplicate, Delete, Edit and Use this template. |
Click + New custom template to write one: a Name, a Description, and the Template body in Markdown (or ⬆ Import .md). Tick ✍ eSignature template to make it a signing template, and use Quick fields or Custom field to place signature, date and text fields for the Company or the Client. Click Create template to save.
What Templates does not cover: system emails
Templates are for documents only. The emails CartonCrew sends on its own — confirmations, reminders, notifications, sign-in and invitation emails — are not customizable: their wording is written into the product, and there is no template, setting or screen that changes it. Those emails carry your organization’s name; the words around it are fixed.
If you want to write your own words to people, that is Email Campaigns — bulk email you compose yourself — not a change to a system email. Wanting a system email reworded is a feature request.
