Inbound email
Referrers can send a request by email. Anyone who emails your inbound address creates a request: CartonCrew reads the email and fills in the name, items, age, gender, location and dates, and a person on your team reviews the row afterwards. Settings › Inbound Email is where you find the address, and where you see any email that did not become a request.
Who this is for: anyone who can open Settings.
Your inbound request address
Open Settings › Inbound Email. The first card, Your inbound request address, shows the address in the form requests-your-slug@inbound.cartoncrew.online. Give it to your referrers.
- If you see Request Manager is switched off, mail to the address is not being turned into requests. Switch it on under Settings > Extensions.
- If there is no address at all, your plan does not include Request Manager. Mail sent to an address of that shape is refused rather than quietly discarded. Contact support if you want to take requests by email.
There is no auto-reply. The sender doesn’t hear from you unless you reply yourself. Sending an email doesn’t count as consent to be contacted; that is recorded separately, in the Requesters tab. Attachments are ignored.
Mail that did not get through
The second card, Mail that did not get through, lists every email sent to your address that could not be turned into a request. Each one shows the subject, who it was from, when it arrived, why it was turned away, and what to do:
| Reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| Request Manager was switched off | Switch Request Manager on under Settings > Extensions, then ask the referrer to send it again, or ask support to recover it. |
| Request Manager is not in your plan | Nobody should have been given this address. If you want requests by email, contact support about adding the module. |
| Already recorded elsewhere | The same delivery is already recorded against a different organization, so it was not copied into yours. Contact support if you think it was yours. |
Check here first when a referrer says they emailed and you can’t find the case. Nothing is turned away silently.
A mistyped address won’t appear here. Mail sent to an address that matches no organization, or that could have meant more than one, is never attributed to anyone. Guessing wrong would put your mail in another organization’s list. CartonCrew keeps it, but you can’t see it. If a referrer may have mistyped the address, contact support with the date and the sender’s address.
The original message is kept for 30 days, so anything listed can still be recovered within that window. Contact support with the date and the sender.
When you’ve dealt with one, click Dismiss to clear it from the list. Tick Show dismissed to see the ones you’ve cleared.
If the card reads Nothing has been turned away. Every message sent to your address became a request., every email has arrived as a request.
Common issues
- A referrer says they emailed but there’s no request: look under Mail that did not get through. If it isn’t there either, check they used the exact address from the first card. A mistyped address never reaches your list, so contact support with the date and the sender.
- Emails stopped arriving as requests: Request Manager may have been switched off. The first card says so, and each email turned away in the meantime is listed with that reason.
