title: “Text alerts from your gallery”
This guide covers the Text Alerts. If your gallery has not switched it on you will not see it in your portal, and nothing here will match what you see — ask whoever runs the gallery.
Text alerts from your gallery
For member artists. Text Alerts is a section on your My Profile page, and it is where you can choose to get text messages from your gallery on your mobile phone: a shift or schedule change, a summary of your sales, or urgent news such as a closure.
To get there: press Me, then My Profile, then scroll to Text Alerts. It works the same way on a computer and on a phone.
Until October 2026 Text Alerts was a tab of its own. A link or bookmark you saved to the old tab, or a start page you set to Text Alerts, now opens My Profile scrolled to the Text Alerts section.
New here? Start with Signing in.
Your gallery may not have this. Text Alerts is a module a gallery chooses. If there is no Text Alerts section on your My Profile page, your gallery has not turned it on, and there is nothing for you to do. If the section says Text Alerts is not available at your gallery, that is the same thing, not a fault. Everything below assumes the section is there.
Before you decide
Signing up is optional. Leaving the box unchecked changes nothing about your membership, your shifts, your artwork, your classes or your notices. The page says so under the button, and it is true.
Message and data rates may apply. These are ordinary text messages to your phone; whatever your phone plan charges for a text, it charges for these.
You can stop at any time, either on this page or by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP to any message for help.
Your number stays private. The Privacy Policy (cartoncrew.online/privacy,
section Text messaging (SMS)) says your mobile number and your consent are
never shared, sold or rented to anyone for marketing; the number goes only to
the texting provider, Twilio, to deliver the messages you asked for. The
program’s terms are in the Terms of Service (cartoncrew.online/terms,
section Text messaging (SMS) program).
Your gallery’s own terms. Under the message details on the form are links to Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Once your gallery has published its own Terms & Conditions (with SMS Terms) and Privacy Policy on its website, those links open your gallery’s pages. Until then, each link opens the cartoncrew.online page above.
What you would be signing up for
Three kinds of message, all from your gallery, none from anyone else, and a fourth where your gallery offers it:
- Schedule and shift updates — a change to a shift you are on, a reminder, a swap. You get a confirmation text when your place on a shift is confirmed: when you sign up and the gallery takes sign-ups straight away, when the person who runs the calendar approves your request, or when they put you on a shift: [the gallery’s name]: You are confirmed for the Front desk shift on Thu Feb 11, 10am-2pm. Reply STOP to opt out. A request that is still waiting sends nothing; the text comes when it is approved. Then a reminder the evening before each shift you are on, around 5 PM the gallery’s time: [the gallery’s name]: Reminder - you are on the Front desk shift tomorrow, Thu Feb 11, 10am-2pm. Reply STOP to opt out. You get one of each per shift; signing up after 5 PM for tomorrow’s shift may bring both at once.
- Your sales activity, typically as a daily summary rather than a text per sale. The morning after any day on which a piece of yours sold (around 9 AM the gallery’s time) you get one text with how many sold and the total: [the gallery’s name]: Your sales on Fri Oct 9: 2 pieces sold, $450.50 in all. Reply STOP to opt out. No titles, no buyer details and nothing on a day with no sales; those details are in My Sales and your email.
- Time-sensitive gallery alerts, such as an emergency closure.
- artMail notifications, such as unread messages — only at a gallery that has switched them on (the form then lists them, and the wording beside the box includes them). If you have artMail you have not opened for four hours, you get at most one text a day, between 9 AM and 8 PM the gallery’s time: [the gallery’s name]: You have 2 unread messages in artMail. Read: https://… Reply STOP to opt out. It says how many are unread and links to your inbox; it never includes a subject or anything a message says. Mail that arrived before you agreed is never texted. This section is the one place this reminder is set: switch artMail notifications off here and it stops; switch it back on and you get at most one text about what is still unread. The greyed-out Text me when I have new artMail switch on your artMail page does not change it (its note links back here).
How often depends on how busy the gallery is; typically a few messages a week. The exact wording you agree to is printed beside the checkbox, and your gallery keeps a record of which wording you saw and when.
Signing up
- Press Me, then My Profile, then scroll to Text Alerts. If you belong to more than one gallery that uses it, there is one section per gallery, each with the gallery’s name at the top. Each gallery is a separate sign-up.
- In Mobile phone number, type your 10-digit US mobile number. It
formats itself as you type,
(555) 123-4567. A number that cannot receive texts is not accepted; the field tells you Enter a 10-digit US mobile number. - Read the paragraph beside the checkbox. It starts By providing your phone number and checking this box, you expressly consent… and names your gallery.
- Tick the box. It is always unticked when the page opens, every time, even if you have signed up before. Nobody can tick it for you.
- Press Yes, sign me up! The button stays grayed out until both the number and the box are done.
- A green message says You are signed up for text alerts, and the form is
replaced by your status: the number on file, shown as
•••-•••-and the last four digits, and the date. - If your gallery has turned on its confirmation text, you also get one text message right away: [the gallery’s name] Text Alerts: You are signed up for sales, shift and gallery alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. At a gallery that offers artMail notifications it says sales, shift, artMail and gallery alerts. You get it once, when you sign up; changing which alerts you get does not send it again.
Adding artMail notifications
If you signed up before your gallery started offering artMail notifications, the Text Alerts section of My Profile shows A new kind of text alert is available: artMail notifications with the sign-up form below it. Your shift, sales and emergency texts keep working as they are. To add artMail notifications, type your number, tick the box again beside the new wording and press Yes, sign me up!. If you do nothing, nothing changes and you get no artMail texts.
Choosing which alerts you get
Once you are signed up, the status block lists the kinds of message you get (artMail notifications too, once you have agreed to them) with a box beside each, under Which alerts you get. Untick one to stop that kind and keep the others. It takes effect straight away.
If a kind is marked (not offered by this gallery right now), the gallery has switched that category off for everyone; your box for it is grayed out until they switch it back on.
Unticking a kind is not opting out. You are still signed up, and you can tick it again whenever you like.
Opting out
Two ways, both immediate:
- On the page. Press Opt out in your status block and confirm. The status changes to You are not receiving text alerts with the date, and the sign-up form comes back underneath, unticked, in case you change your mind.
- By text. Reply STOP to any message from the gallery. Your phone’s carrier stops the messages, and the gallery’s records show you opted out by text. If you later want them again, sign up on the page — replying START only works if you had signed up on the page before.
Either way, nothing else about your membership changes.
Changing your number
Opt out, then sign up again with the new number. The gallery keeps the old number’s history for its records; it cannot be edited in place, and that is deliberate.
When it goes wrong
- The button will not light up. One of the two is missing: the box is not ticked, or the number is not a 10-digit US mobile number. Check the field for a red message.
- The page says the sign-up failed. The red message is the gallery’s server explaining why. Try again; if it keeps failing, tell the gallery.
- You signed up and get nothing. Look at Which alerts you get — the kind you expected may be unticked, or marked as not offered by the gallery right now. If everything is ticked, ask the gallery: they can see whether a message was sent and whether your phone company accepted it.
- You replied STOP and a text still arrived. A message the phone company had already accepted can arrive a minute or two later. Anything after that is worth telling the gallery, with the time.
- You want to sign up again after texting STOP. Use the page; STOP is honored by the phone company until you do.
