Importing from an existing site

Paste a Wix / Squarespace / WordPress URL. CartonCrew’s AI reads the public pages and drafts Home, About, Programs, and Contact for you — saved as unpublished drafts you then review.

Who this is for: Editor / Admin / Owner with website.manage. Requires the AI master toggle on + an API key (see admin → AI master toggle).

Steps

  1. Website → Import from existing site (top right).
  2. Paste the existing site URL (the live address of the org’s current site).
  3. Import drafts.
  4. CartonCrew fetches a few pages, summarizes, and writes drafts. Two to three minutes for a typical site.
  5. When the modal closes, the editor’s sections show the new drafts. Edit and Publish each.

Nothing is published automatically — drafts only.

Common issues

  • “Needs an AI key” — Settings → AI; add the key, retry.
  • Some pages didn’t import — the importer aims at Home / About / Programs / Contact only. Donate is left blank because providers (PayPal, etc) need explicit setup.
  • Imported text isn’t quite right — drafts are AI output, not human-reviewed. Read every line before publishing.
