AI drafting

Ask Claude for a first draft of the subject and body. Edit it before sending.

Who this is for: anyone composing a campaign, in an organization with AI enabled and an AI allowance.

Steps

  1. In the composer, click ✨ Draft with AI above the message body. The button only appears when AI is enabled for your organization.
  2. The Draft with AI window opens with a single box. Describe what the email should say — the window’s own guidance is: “Describe what the email should say. One line is enough. The AI will draft a subject + body matching your comms style and your recent request activity (no PII goes to the model).” The example it offers is “Spring appeal — we need warm coats for kids under 10 by April”.
  3. Click ✨ Generate draft.
  4. You get back a Subject and a Body preview. From here:
    • Accept & insert — puts both into the composer.
    • Regenerate — another attempt at the same prompt.
    • ← Try a different prompt — go back and rewrite the instruction.
    • Cancel — close without changing anything.

There is no Tone field and no Length field. This page previously described both, along with a Generate button and a Accept & insert button. The window has one box and the four actions above. Ask for tone and length in the prompt itself — “short and warm” works.

What Accept & insert does

The window says it plainly: “Accept replaces the current subject + body in the editor. You can edit freely after. Generate again if it didn’t land.”

It replaces, it does not append. If you have already written something you want to keep, copy it somewhere safe before accepting a draft.

Common issues

  • The button is not there. AI is off for your organization, or your plan has no AI allowance. Both are settings, not something to fix in the composer.
  • The draft is generic. The prompt was too thin. Name the audience (“people who bought at the spring show”, “members who have not booked a class this term”) and the one thing you want them to do.
  • You lost edits by accepting a draft. Accept overwrites. Generate first, edit after.

What goes to the model

The window is explicit that no personal information is sent. The draft is shaped by your comms style and by recent request activity in aggregate — not by any individual’s record.
